Clubs at Leslie Manser Primary School
At Leslie Manser Primary School we are proud to offer a variety of lunchtime or afterschool clubs which promote our school’s mission statement of, ‘Enjoying Learning, Achieving Together, Aiming High’. All clubs are exciting, as well as educational, and link to an area of the curriculum – children who attend thoroughly enjoy them!
Across the academic year, there are a selection of clubs running which are available to children of a variety age groups.
Storytime and Craft Club is a popular choice with our Reception and KS1 children. Here, they enjoy listening to a story before completing a craft activity linked to the story. Children are able to follow instructions as well as use their imagination when exploring the art resources available.
Our KS2 children enjoy attending Art Club which involves them using a variety of skills such as drawing, painting and sculpture. Over the course of a term, they will work on a project which is then either displayed in school or shared in an assembly before it is taken home.
Sewing Club is also popular with our KS2 children who get to create a variety of items such as cushions, pencil cases and bookmarks which they use in their everyday life. Crochet and Amigurumi Club is also enjoyed by our older children where they might create blankets, ear warmer headbands and even simple animals.
Language and communication is promoted through our Sign Language Club which is popular with children of all ages. Throughout their duration at the club, children learn the basics of sign language enabling them to communicate in new and exciting ways.
The arts continue to be promoted through our ever-popular Choir Club where numbers are always increasing. Children come together to enjoy singing a variety of songs, rehearsing them and eventually performing to the school, parents and carers and even local care homes. Giving back to the local community is also something that we aspire to do at Leslie Manser Primary School.
Supporting children with their social and emotional needs is something that our school is proud to say we do very well. There are a variety of clubs that are run within school where children who may need this additional support, are invited to attend. There clubs include Diamond Art, Lego Therapy and Dominoes. As well as promoting turn taking, fine motor skills and fair play, they also focus on mindfulness and positive mental health.
As the weather improves and summer approaches, a variety of sporting clubs are available to attend. Archery Club is enjoyed by children of all ages where hand-eye coordination is improved and so are their scores! Cricket Club is also available and is highly attended by our KS2 children who have found a love for this sport since being taught by a trained coach in recent months.
Finally, we are very proud to say that we have a Kickboxing Club available which is run by a World Champion! Scott Brewer comes into school to take some PE sessions but also runs a club for those who are interested. This is the only club that comes at a cost due to him not being a member of staff. All other clubs are free to attend!
